The hotel setting and surroundings are perfect for a romantic weekend. The quality of the food is very good and a varied menu.

Facilites are very jumbled, hotel is a bit like a rabbit warren, guests found it very difficult to locate their bedrooms. Decor is tired but looks like modernisation may have begun.Hotel seems to cater more for weddings guests than visitors.

The surroundings are beautiful! The building has a very interesting hostory - more should be made of this.

It was -14 outside in the morning and there was no heating in my room! It was completely freezing. I got a good deal with bookings.com - otherwise this is probably an overpriced hotel.

The leisure facilities were great and the choice at breakfast was good. The location of the hotel was great for access to the motorway and to Mancester.

    The rooms were quite warm

Staff very friendly. Wondersful surroundings. Food very good

    Standard of accomodation

    Good

The manager was extremely helpful sorting small problems out immediately. Could not fault this at all.

Faded grandure. Very shabby. Food not good. You could sole your shoes with the fried eggs for breakfast. Waiters were prompt and courteous but did not smile. Chairs in the cocktail lounge were dirty with the bottoms torn. Not De Vere standards. I did not play golf but I bet the Club House was not like this!

The staff were very welcoming, and nothing was a problem. The food was brilliant and a wide range available.

It was very romantic with a beautiful setting. It truly blended in with the surrounding area. The small pond and garden area were beautiful!

The walls were very thin so we could hear people all night long - whether bickering or watching TV or having serious discussions, etc. We also think the room could have been a bit cleaner.

The attention by the staff was superb. Excellent service in the dining room and delicious beautifully presented food. Even though there were two wedding receptions going on we still felt as if we were very important to them. Would recommend this hotel but would suggest querying location of room first

The location of the hotel room. I did ask if this was because of the allocation given to third party bookings and they did agree. Our room was lovely in itself, but there were four things which totally spoilt it. 1. Lift next to left side wall. This was going up and down most of the night due to wedding party and then staff earlier in morning 2. Fire doors by door to bedroom. Banging everytime someone went through - again throughout the night 3. Delivery area to kitchens right outside window. Couldn,t keep window open. Work there started at 5.30am. Deliveries etc. Voices etc. 4. Strong musty smell as you walked in - probably from bathroom

Easy to get to within 1+ hour to get to from were we live yet far enough from busy areas, really felt we were miles from anywhere and no road noise. Beautiful old building, lovely interiors and gardens, and attention to detail. Very comfortable in all areas, spa/pool,restaurant, reception and rooms. Very friendly staff, especially in the restaurant, nothing too much trouble from housekeeping who had to change our feather duvet for synthetic as we are allergic, to those who provided extra drinks for our room and reception staff who recommended local Indian restaurant. Hotel has mouthwatering, well presented food, tho dinner bit on pricey side, was absolutely delicious and breakfast was excellent value with loads of choice. Tea / coffee in room and more provided on request almost instantly.

Our room was little on small side and altho a double room there was only one bedside table and one easy chair + no bedside lights. Two of everything please, perhaps be possible by re-jigging the layout of the room?. Bathroom was spotless except for mould on ceiling, shower curtain and around bath, also thick dust on access panel on side of bath. This was noted on the survey card at time of our stay. Room looking a liitle tired could do with fresh lick of paint.

I liked the spa which was great. Also room was comfortable and location great. Service was excellent

The only think that spoilt the trip was very thin walls in a hotel which resulted in one sleepless night with loud guests in the other room. You could hear everything from other rooms like a flushing toilet or any movement.

    Superb

Well presented reception staff, very friendly and attentuve waitress in dining room, clean well appointed bedroom, well decorated and furnished public spaces. Good selection of wine in dining room (although the one I ordered was out if stock).

The dinner food (starter: crab bisque; main: steak) was bland and tasteless and the portions rather small.

    Setting .

Not told that the Pool and leisure facilities were out of action due to refurb. Also, refurb meant that wallpaper was been removed at 7.30 am from all upstairs rooms .Bar maid did not have a bottle opener !

The restaurant was excellent. Great food, great service.

The trip was booked as a leisure weekend, to make use of the spa and leisure facilities. However, on arrival I asked where the leisure facilities were. We were told that the leisure centre was closed, and that we could use the facilities in their sister hotel (15 miles away), we did this but is was like using the local leisure pool and not relaxing at all. I was really disappointed that the leisure spa was not avalialble as this was the whole purpose of the trip. There was no real apology apart from the drippy young man at reception. If Mottram Hall had bothered to contact us we would have cancelled our trip and found a hotel elsewhere to meet our needs.
